  Farmina told JUPdog directly that the fruits and vegetables in its formulas have always been sourced from Europe. However, since 2021, those ingredients were sent to China for processing. Farmina has now stated that the processing for its North American formulas is being moved to Europe.
  
  The concern was mainly about transparency: saying ingredients were “sourced from Europe” did not make it clear that some were processed in China. This does not establish that the ingredients were unsafe or grown in China.


• Changes to North American formulas
  
  After opening its North Carolina manufacturing facility, Farmina changed ingredients in several formulas. Depending on the recipe, changes reportedly included wheat, chicken, pork fat, dehydrated pork or rice. This matters particularly for dogs with food sensitivities whose owners relied on the previous ingredient lists.

• March 2026 labeling recall
  
  Farmina voluntarily recalled more than 8,000 22-pound bags of N&D Tropical Selection Salmon, Spelt, Oats and Tropical Fruits because the front identified the food as salmon while the ingredient panel listed lamb. The FDA classified it as Class III, meaning serious health consequences were unlikely.
